The mission of Warrior Spirit Project is to help restore the soul and strengthen the spirit of veterans and first responders through "Yoga, Dogs, and Dirt" offering support for the transition from isolation to meaningful community engagement.
We believe that a broken spirit can be more harmful than a broken body. We also believe that Post Traumatic Stress (PTS) is not a disorder to be managed, but is an injury receptive to healing. We take a holistic, evidence-based approach that helps restore the soul and strengthen the spirit of veterans and first responders with PTS and/or TBI.
We achieve these goals through our three foundational programs:
Steady Warriors™: Trauma-sensitive yoga and iRest© meditation classes for veterans and first responders of all ages, capabilities, status (active, discharged, retired, reserve) and service histories. This could provide an opportunity for healing in a safe community of peers.
Pit Bull Partners Rescue Mission™: Support dog program that trains rescued pit bulls as companion and emotional support dogs for at-risk veterans. Participatory training and bonding with these dogs could be a suffering vet’s first step out of isolation.
GOOD to GrOw™: Community gardens, farmers’ markets, and dog-friendly spiritual formation opportunities, to provide safe and purposeful community-building venues that encourage and support reintegration into civilian life.
