Hello, my name is Candace Wheeler. I was born on March 21, 1981 in West Memphis Arkansas. I was raised by two loving parents who had me in church every Sunday morning which is where I learned my passion for music. I started singing at the age of 3 and haven’t stopped.
On June 4th, 2002 I married the love of my life, my best friend, my hero, Sgt Jonathan Wheeler. Shortly after that God blessed us with two very handsome little boys, Treyce, and Maeson. I love having boys, it keeps me on my toes and my knees.
We’ve had our share of ups and downs, but our lives changed forever on August 11, 2007 when I got a phone call at 11:34 pm saying that my husband has been taken to the “Green Zone” for emergency surgery due to a rocket attack. The first thing that went through my mind was thank God he is still ALIVE! The second thought was “How am I going to tell my kids that their daddy was not coming home the same way he left?” It has been a long road since that day, but we have just been living one day at a time (good and bad).
I became Jonathan’s caregiver the day he got home from his second tour in Iraq in 2007, but I started getting paid to be his caregiver in May of 2013. Ever since I learned about the Caregiver Program and the benefits that come with it - it has become my passion. Caregivers don’t get enough credit. A lot of people have no idea what a caregiver has to go through from day to day and the stress it puts on THEIR life. Between taking care of the kids, the household chores, bills and their solider, the caregiver barely has anytime to take care of themselves.
I am really looking forward to giving back what I have learned through this website. The men and women who have worked on this site are just like you. Looking for the help they need, whether it be emotional, mental, financial, or just to get away with the family for the weekend. We have been there, we have been where you are right now and we are here to help you. You are not alone, and I want to personally invite you to contact me any time day or night with your questions or if you just need to talk. I am a wife, a mother and a caregiver. I know what you are going through and I am here to help you. My number is 210-540-9443. Please don’t hesitate!! God bless you and everything you are doing for your family.
