We provide no-cost writing seminars for veterans, service members, and military family members. We believe that every veteran has a story. and that most of us need help doing so. We teach and mentor veterans, service members, and family members who want to improve their writing, and we do it among other veterans and family members.
We have an online journal and quarterly literary review o-dark-thirty.org.
VWP is a series of seminars and workshops. At each seminar we present an element of craft like structure, dialogue or point of view. Participants also submit their writing to the groups for review and comment by all members of the workshop. One series is based on a semester cycle. Another series can be presented over a long weekend.
Our seminar leaders are working writers who hold MA or MFA in Writing AND who are combat veterans. We have a mentoring program with writers and teachers who work in memoir, history, journalism, fiction, poetry, play writing and screen writing who support us, so whatever form our participants want to write in, we can help.
