VA: Independent Living [0]
Veterans whose service-connected disabilities require intensive and frequent rehabilitation may not be ready and able to work. VA’s Independent Living services can help them live independently in their homes and communities, and provides support so that eventually they may be able to return to work.
Each independent living plan is personalized to meet the individual Veteran’s needs. In general, Veterans can receive up to 24 months of support to help them live independently in their homes and communities to the greatest extent possible.
Veterans who are not able to pursue an employment goal and who need support to become more independent may receive Independent Living support from VA. Veterans who are pursuing employment goals may also receive additional, related services to enable them to perform their daily activities independently as part of their employment plan.
